Introduction

At Norse Sound Creative, a lot of what drives my work starts long before I ever sit behind a computer. It starts high in the mountains, perched on a glassing knob, soaking up wild places. This is my fuel; I refresh my creative mind in this environment and pursue what I find to be meaningful, all of which re-invigorates me to return and work hard for my clients. Backcountry hunting, conservation, public lands, are all near and dear to me and certainly provide me the clarity needed in life, I will forever fight to preserve and protect this lifestyle.

Why Backcountry Hunting Matters to Us

Backcountry hunting strips everything down to the essentials: hard work, preparation, patience, and respect for the wild. Whether in Montana, Idaho Wyoming or Washington State, these experiences shape who we are and inspire the mission behind our side hustle of Defend The Hunt.

Our Spring Bear Hunt in Idaho

This spring, we headed into Idaho bear country with a goal most western hunters understand well: get steep, get deep, stay mobile, and experience the hunt the right way – pack on your back, boots to the mountain, grinding from sun up to sun down.

Why Pack Llamas Are Incredible for Backcountry Hunting

Using pack llamas allowed us to pack farther, carry camp comfortably, stay mobile, and focus more energy on the hunt itself. This was my first hunt with stock of any kind and I was blown away by llama’s capabilities as well as their low maintenance required in the backcountry which is perhaps the most important aspect to many of us. They require little water and pure and simple just do the work needed. Needless to say, I was very impressed with their capacity and ease of use for a first timer.

MTN 2 MTN Backcountry Pack Llamas

The team at MTN 2 MTN Backcountry Pack Llamas made the experience outstanding from start to finish. With locations in Powell, Wyoming and the Boise, Idaho area, they have built something unique for hunters and outdoor enthusiasts regardless of where your hunt is in the West. These locations can service pretty much any western hunter, and these people are incredible to work with.

Bears and More

This trip was about more than chasing bears. It was about time in the mountains, shared experiences, and appreciation for the lifestyle we love. The men I hunted with are the team behind MTN 2 MTN Mediathey are a talented, hardworking group of guys that create exceptional backcountry hunting content. Hunting and sharing the mountain with these boys is always a grind, but an exceptional and memorable experience. Very grateful to have met them and share the mountain with them. All in all, we took three bears over the course of a week, saw some great country, and really maximized on every minute we had in the mountains. There is not much better than watching bears in the wild, they are truly fascinating animals, I really appreciate them and not only love to hunt them and eat them but want to ensure they are on the landscape for generations to come. Only through hunting can you really gain the understanding and respect these animals deserve, it is hard to put into words how much we as hunters care about these animals, at the end of the day it is about balance of predators and pray and predators must be managed.

Final Thoughts

If you have ever considered trying pack llamas for a western hunt, I can confidently say it is worth it. Great people, great animals, and unforgettable country, 2026 bear camp was a week to remember.
